Norm reaches out to a young Guest on an AWAY MISSION as she explores the Borg/Robotics station with her Dad . For those of you who were unable to join us, you missed an absolutely terrific event. About 400 visitors toured our display room and visited our exhibits, stopping at each station on an "Away Mission" to interact with our volunteers from 9 Star Trek and Klingon Clubs, including Star Wars 501st Legion. . Young children who knew nothing about Star Trek walked away from the event after spending an hour or so in the room with a new understanding our hobby. Their parents and families, many of whom were Trek Fans, found a different side to Star Trek that they probably had never thought about. Our volunteers did all Fandom proud as their active participation demonstrated to our guests what Star Trek is really all about.....Friends and Fans working together having fun and excited about the future. . THANKS to Alvin, of Tampa's Andromeda Station, for inviting us to tag along. Alvin spent much of his day running from one end of the Museum to the other to keep things going. He was busy holding details together and coordinating our activities. Terrific job, Alvin! . THANKS also to everyone who contributed props and displays, posed for pictures with guests, and took time discussing details of their assigned stations, making each exhibit fun and exciting. . It is good that we come together for so many things, but when we can gather for an event like this....an event that tells our story to new and youthful faces....we are helping to build a new future for our ideas and visions. . You folks who showed up were a valuable part of our Team, and most important, you made an investment of your effort and your time in the future of those children. As Christine mentioned to me: "If only one kid had fun, then it was worth it". She is right, of course, and the fact is that ALL those kids, and their parents, enjoyed a day that our volunteers made special. . Thanks again....you all did a terrific job....Life is FUN! . Norm & Denise
